Kyiv city transport
Kyiv is a big city with a population of nearly 4-5 million people. Transport system of city includes two International airports (Boryspil and Zhuliany), railway stations, a large number of metro stations, funicular, numerous tram, buses and trolleybuses routes.
The fastest and most popular means of Kyiv public transport among the tourists and kyivan citizens is metro. There are three metro lines in Kyiv- red (M1), blue (M2) and green (M3). Each of them pass through the city center. Red and green lines connect west and east housing estates of the right and left parts of Kyiv, blue line- norhern and southern districts of city's right part. The most important metro stations are Khreshchatyk, Teatralna, Arsenalna (red line), Zoloti vorota (green line), Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Ploshcha Lva Tolstoho (blue line). These ones are located in the central part of Kyiv near the main hotels of city. If you booked a hotel room in center of Kyiv and want get to center of our city you need go to these stations and use one of it (depends on hotel you choose and a place from which you go to it). Price is UAH 8 per ticket.
Except of 3 metro lines, Kyiv has extensive network of buses, trolleybuses and trams. It includes 83, 51 and 16 city routes accordingly. These ones connect metro stations, railway station with city center, subcenters and outlying areas, Upper and Down town etc. A network of trams connects Down Town (Podil) with railway station and metro stations with housing estates in left bank of Dnipro river. Thus (so) all areas not covered by metro can be reached by these means of transport. Ticket price is UAH 8.
